Get Involved... Adrian Partridge

An Old Gold Racing owner shares their racing story.

What do you do in your day-to-day life?
Operations Director for an Aerospace Company

How did you get into racing? And how did you get involved with Old Gold Racing…?
As a child, I was always watching racing on the TV with my Dad. I then started attending local point-to-point and race meetings (such as Wincanton) as I got old enough to place bets. The connection with Old Gold Racing started when I saw a full-page ad in The Times for shares in Bob Pebble. I got tempted and it snowballed from there!

What do you love most about racing?
It would have to be the athleticism and bravery of both horses and humans. The symbiotic relationship between jockeys, trainers, stable staff, and the horses themselves is something to behold.

What is the best experience you’ve had in racing?
My first OGR winner! Darling Maltaix the day after I bought a share in him. I watched the race on my phone while out shopping with my wife and remember thinking “wow - this is easy”…!

Favourite racehorse of all time?
Too many greats to choose from but probably Istabraq over hurdles and either Denman or Moscow Flyer over a fence.

Favourite trainer?
Martin Pipe back in the day.

Favourite jockey?
I always enjoy seeing the younger jockeys coming through and tasting success - Ben Jones has been great to watch in the last couple of seasons.

Favourite racecourse/meeting?
I really like the smaller tracks like Wincanton, Warwick, and Ludlow.
My favourite meeting would have to be the Grand National meeting at Aintree.

Tell us about an experience you’ve had with Old Gold Racing?
I’ve really enjoyed the few events I’ve been able to attend and the access to the likes of Paul Nicholls, Nicky Henderson and Mick Fitzgerald.

Other hobbies/interests?
I enjoy most other sports but especially cricket and Somerset County Cricket Club.
